My Town Missions is founded by Pastor Matt Bagwell of Shiloh Basin Community Church - and his wife, Terah. Their passion and calling is to teach the Gospel, grow disciples, and advance missions.

Matt's walk with the Lord began in the summer of 1997 when he was baptized in the river on a hot summer day, as his dad got to witness from the side. He spent many years after that, wandering. At the time, pastor Matt was not in a church community. He needed discipleship. By God's redeeming grace, Christ called him back to church in November, 2013. His calling to pursue the pastorate came by surprise, right after he married Terah in September, 2014. Following the wedding, he attended Liberty University and received his undergraduate degree in Christian Ministries in 2017. Pastor Matt received his MDIV from Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary, majored in Pastoral Ministries in 2019.

Adding to their testimony, Matt and Terah met for the first time in church in 2014. They had a quick courtship and were married four months after dating. They have three, grown children and their family is very close. Rooted, grounded and united in Christ.

Terah and Matt are blessed to steward the parsonage - across the street from the church They live there with their daughter Lynzie and hound dog named Dottie. Matt was installed as the pastor of Shiloh Basin in June, 2024.

Behind the Mission: Our Story

Hey! We’re Matt and Terah Bagwell. Our story is one of deliverance and testimony of God’s undeniable grace in our lives. God has restored us from the pain of divorce and early life experiences that had a lasting impact on our lives. Like threads from a tapestry, God used this brokenness to weave into a beautiful story of redemption.

Matt once identified as an atheist and spent many years agnostic. But God was at work in his heart and mind. Matt was invited by a friend to attend church one Sunday, that’s where he met me- Terah. From an unexpected spark to a Christ-centered romance, we were married four months after beginning our courtship. Today, Matt serves as a pastor and shepherd of our small, country church. I’m Matt’s wife, so blessed to be called to serve as a pastor’s wife and honored to walk alongside Matt in ministry. We’re exceptionally grateful for our kids, who are young adults. It’s an encouragement to watch Skylar, Vincent, and Lynzie live a life passionately devoted to Jesus Christ.

Our family wouldn’t be complete without our Dottie girl. She’s a Redbone Coonhound Lab mix with three legs and the sweetest little heart. Dottie may be a tripod, but she’s strong, a comforting reminder that brokenness doesn’t break us. In God’s tender mercy, we have some scars. But through Christ, we’re made whole and set apart for a greater purpose.

Hey I'm Pastor Matt,

I’m a shepherd, serving our rural, country church that's located in Rainier, Oregon - inside a basin. God is providing refuge to a little flock who hungers for the Gospel and are eager to learn how to study God's Word. Most importantly, I have a deep burden to teach people how to read and apply their Bible. I’d love for you to join me in this mission. Tag along and partner with us to see what God is doing here.

For many years, I wandered as an atheist. With a hardened and darkened heart, I turned away from God. I had sinned against him grievously, in more ways than one. In time, I was approached by a dear friend and invited to church - God's love radically and drastically changed me. I was invited to church, so I went. God began to do a good work in me. My life verse that I cling to is "Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind..." Romans 12:2

Hey I'm Terah,

I recently turned 39 years old. I'm a wife, mom, and friend to our three incredible young adult kids. I have a unique and diverse background that has shaped how I understand the world and connect with others. While my story includes deep challenges, I'm not defined by them. Instead, I see my life as a reflection of God’s grace and His glory. Everything I’ve walked through has deepened my compassion and strengthened my desire to serve Christ in all that I do.

As a pastor’s wife, I’ve had the privilege of walking alongside others in their walk with the Lord. I love sharing how the Gospel has shaped my life. Not just in theory, but in the messy, and beautiful moments of real life. Pastor Matt shared with me what he was learning in Bible college and Seminary. As he washed me with God's Word, I became even more eager to help others understand Scripture in the same way Christ enlightened my heart to the His Word.Through it all, I’ve seen how God uses our experiences to draw us closer to Him and others, even the ones we wouldn’t have chosen. My heart is to encourage, equip, and remind others of the unshakable hope and faith we have in Jesus Christ.
